Love

What Happens When Hervé Meets Sally?
Review
of Love
à la Française
by Art Travler "CCC" on Amazon.com:
Very
interesting read while I was in Paris. Explains so many of the differences
between US and French Culture. Very entertaining, too. A must read for
any American entering into a romantic relationship with a French person!
For the rest of us a fun and informative read.

of Love
à la Française
by Marika Stone "maryliza" on Amazon.com:
Any
non-steeped-in-the-real-France American girl who imagines that meeting
and marrying a French man would be a "happily ever after" should definitely
read this book, and even if their person is a 20-something French guy
who doesn't seem to be like the men in the book AT ALL, there is this
phenomenon after marriage where the person you thought you knew turns
into their father. So ... it's worth knowing that American women are often
going to run slam-blat! into a huge culture shock with French men, and
Platt, an American journalist who's lived in Paris for 30-plus years,
outlines exactly what the rough spots might be. I've never dated a French
man, (although they've tried to date me) and after I read Love a la Francaise,
I was even more glad that I had avoided them. I lived and worked in Paris
and Aix-en-Provence, and met a lot of men who seemed to be looking for
a little fun on the side, and would I like to go to the country for the
weekend with them even though they were married? Uh, no. I stuck to my
American boyfriends. I love Platt's books about French culture so much,
and I love how she gathers her information and shares it.

Spano's comments about Love à la Française, from
the Los Angeles Times Daily Travel & Deal Blog:
Author
Polly Platt has been telling us for years that the French are different,
which is why I always recommend her books.... Now she's back with Love
à la Française, a new book about how that difference comes into
play when American women fall for French men. Platt uses her wicked sense
of humor and insider's knowledge of the way things work in France to warn
American women that they'd better be willing to wear high heels and learn
how to whip up a soufflé if they want to make a lightning love affair
with a Frenchman stick.

of Love
à la Française
on the Parisian Party blog:
For an insightful, entertaining peek into Franco-American
relationships, you’ve got to pick up a copy of Polly Platt’s recent book,
Love
à la Française. Through
interviews and case studies, Polly looks at the attraction between American
women and French men. What makes American women chuck it all in, marry
their French man and move to Paris - and what does (or doesn’t) keep them
there? ... an interesting read for both sides of an Anglo-Franco couple,
and should sit high on the required reading list of those considering
taking the Parisian Lover’s Leap.

In Love
à la Française, [Polly] delves
into the intimate lives of Anglo-Saxons who actually lived the dream and
moved to Paris -- for good, for better or worse -- as wives of French
men.... But French men with their thousand-year experience in enchanting
French women are not always in tune with Anglo-Saxons and vice versa.
Why do some American women in Paris fail while others bloom and thrive?
And how do happy transplants manage their success? After dozens of interviews
and in-depth case studies, Polly Platt reveals the secrets of Love
à la Française.
